Supplemental Instruction (SI) Tutoring

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program that supports students enrolled in traditionally difficult courses by offering free, regularly scheduled group study sessions that are facilitated by SI Leaders (current students who have previously succeeded in the course). SI Leaders support faculty by preparing weekly collaborative sessions that help students develop effective learning strategies while engaging with the most difficult course material.

Undergraduate Research

The Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship Program promotes, supports, and celebrates MSU Denver faculty and student engagement in undergraduate research activities. These undergraduate research experiences enhance students’ preparedness and competitiveness for future employment and the pursuit of advanced degrees.

Why is getting involved in undergraduate research important?

  • Undergraduate research is a great option, particularly if you are considering:
    • Strengthening your resume for future positions
    • Pursuing an advanced degree (e.g., graduate school or medical school)
    • Early career experiences
  • It helps to gain experience and understanding of various STEM fields students want to go into
  • Can assist students to pinpoint what area they want to pursue a career within
  • To bridge relationships and connections with faculty members that can lead to future opportunities

What are the steps of getting into undergraduate research?

  1. Students interested in specific Chemistry areas should refer to the Specialty Faculty Advisors and reach out to them
  2. Once students have reached out to the faculty mentor, they should discuss their personal goals of what they are wanting out of the research experience
  3. Students will then work on whatever project related research the faculty mentor wants them to be apart of
  4. Once the mentorship and research project is established, then students can contact the department (course override form or [email protected] ) to look into getting CHE 4370 credit
